DARK GAIA'S PROFILE
Dark Gaia

I develop games and I write. I have a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing and journalism. I like writing speculative fiction, horror and literary fiction, sometimes all blended together. You can find elements of my writing in my games, because I consider my games to be stories just that happen to have gameplay.
I post updates on my Facebook and Twitter:

One Night - Full Version
Update:
One of my testers discovered a discrepancy where a door event later on in the game is set to "Below Here", preventing game progress. Thus, I have released a new version with this bug fixed, and containing all the missing files to boot!
To those already playing old version:
You will not be able to continue once you encounter the shoddy eventing. Just download the new version and cut/paste your save file (savegame.rxdata) into the new directory to continue.

Where's Your Username From?
Terranigma and it's prequel Illusion Of Gaia on the SNES are my all time favorite RPGs, and Dark Gaia is the final boss in both.
RE: Game Purge
I downloaded one. It's not a virus, it's an actual RMVX installer, except it installs maps only so when you play it says "File Not Found: $CharSonic".

I must admit... He looks ridiculous. Someone took the "guy with big sword" idea to an extreme nobody wants to see.
So what about horror/scary games?
Personally, the tactics I used in One Night involved me constantly putting the player on edge. Dark, lonely and ruinous graphics, less than ample lighting, slow atmospheric music and unknown ambient sounds off in the distance...
These make the player begin to feel uncertain. He/she cannot see what is coming, but it constantly convinced by what they percieve that something is waiting for them, and will appear at the worst possible moment.
Then, I make it so that player gets to that point, and nothing happens. They immediately feel calmer as their apparent fear was for nothing.
But then something does happen, scaring them when they least expect it and the fear returns, as the player now knows that even what they percieve cannot tell them what is to come.
You don't need fancy 3D graphics to do that.

RE: Game Purge
New guy and noob to RMN and RMXP!
Hey welcome. I'm new to RMN too but I am quite skilled with RPG Maker, so just ask up if you need help okay?

Well, I actually don't like the FFT games that much... But that's because I hate turn based strategy games in general. From what I played, FFT seemed like a very good offering of that genre, and would have been decent.
I am glad though that XIII isn't using ATB either. That battle system is sooooooo old....
